Welcome to ShutterBug Version 1.0 from XtraLean Software Inc. This Quick Start guide was
created with ShutterBug and is designed to help you get a SB photo album uploaded to the web
quickly. The guide is divided into four main steps: 1) Create your first ShutterBug file 2) Build
your content 3) Preview your Site 4) Upload your site to the web. Once you have become
acquainted with the basic functionality, we recommend that you explore the Edit-in-Place tools in
more depth, in order to leverage the full capability of ShutterBug.

What is ShutterBug?
ShutterBug is an easy-to-use, content building application for creating photo albums and
publishing them to the web quickly. ShutterBug is for people who want and need to display their
photos on the web without having to worry about HTML creation. It is not a photo library or
storage tool, but rather focuses on building content, adding a look and feel, and smoothly
uploading to the web with only a few clicks of the mouse.
You can drag and drop digital photos from iPhoto or from another folder on your hard disk. Edit
the photos using the built-in ImageWell editor, design the look and feel (or use a simple, pre-
made template), and preview and test your site via the built-in browser. ShutterBug web albums
render properly in all browsers on both platforms. This means you don't need to preview in
multiple external browser windows nor spend any time tweaking for individual browser standards -
ShutterBug does this for you.
The Edit-in-Place window provides tools that will allow you to unleash your creativity with very
little learning curve involved, or perhaps none at all. No need to know HTML, CSS, Javascript,
or PHP to give your photo albums a stylish look that is all your own. You can create navigation
roll-overs, add external links, change colors, font styles, add images and tiled backgrounds to
your pages, and much, much more.
The template library is designed to provide simple, scaled-down templates to help you get
started with a look, and to illustrate the different elements and customizations that can be
created and modified. The templates do not contain graphics, but you can easily add your own.
In the future, more detailed, graphical templates will be available for download from XtraLean's
web site, as well as a forum for sharing templates with other ShutterBug users. Please check
XtraLean's website periodically to find out when these items, and other exciting features become
available.
