ShutterBug Beta

Quickstart Guide

Build your content

Content Window

Make sure to Save your site regularly as this is a beta build and may quit on you unexpectedly.

Click on the Content Tab to reveal the content window.  Follow these steps to build content quickly:

A. Create the Masthead and Footer

The Masthead and Footer appear on every page in your site.  The Masthead is generally the name of your website, such as "My Online Gallery" or "My Photo Album." The footer could contain copyright information or anything you want.

  • Click on the first heading in the Navigation pane labeled "Website."
  • The window to the right of the navigation pane contains text fields for your Masthead and Footer.
  • Give your website a name by typing the text into the Masthead field.
  • Then enter the text you would like to have for the footer of your website.
  • If you already have another website up, you can include the name in the footer and link to it.  Highlight the text and enter the URL in the Link field. Include http:// at the beginning.

B. Create Your Photo Albums

To help get you started, the first photo album page has already been added for you. Select the page in the navigation pane entitled "page 1."  This will reveal the window for adding a text description and your photos.

  • Drag and drop a selection of photos from iPhoto or from another folder into the Picture wells.
  • Enter a title for this album in the Page Title text field at the top of the window.
  • Enter in a description or story about these photos in the Description text box.
  • To align, underline, bold, or italicize text, highlight it with your mouse and click the buttons at the top right of the description box.
  • To hyperlink text, select the desired text and enter the URL in the Link text box.
  • Double-click the label entitled "page1" to give your first album a name - this will be the name that appears on your navigation menu.
  • Click on the Insert Album icon to add a new page to the navigation.
  • Drag and drop some photos into the photo well.
  • Enter the page title text and description text.
  • Double-click the label in the navigation to give your new page a name.
  • Add about 5 albums in total and repeat the above steps.

Note: You can move on to each new album page while the previous page is still importing your photos.  There is no need to wait  for the photos to finish importing before performing the next action.  ShutterBug will complete each task in the background while you move on to add a new album or preview it.  You can keep your eye on the status by looking at the Status progress bar in the bottom left corner of the application window.
