Chapter 3.  Content Window: Building Your Content

───────────────────────────────────────

It's important to realize the separation between your content (pages) and your design

(templates). The Content window facilitates content building and basic editing options

for the text, links and photos in your pages.  Anything to do with design is not part of

the Content window. This allows you to change and update the content of each page,

without affecting the design or inadvertently changing a template.

What's Covered in this Chapter...

This chapter covers everything involved with building your actual content and all the

features available to help you easily and quickly build each content block: composing &

editing text descriptions, inserting links with the Easy button (including encrypted email

links), adding page titles for each page, importing and editing your photos (including

the iPhoto integrated window and iMedia Browser compatibility), adding and editing

captions and watermarks, embedding links into photos and caption text, adding alt tags

to photos, using photo albums and groups, and adding external files to your website.

What's Not Covered in this Chapter...

This chapter does not cover the Advanced editing features that are accessible from the

Content window. The advanced options are covered in Chapter 11. This is also not the

place to worry about the design, or look and feel of your site. How to use the Template

options and Design tools in the Layout window, are covered in Chapter 6 and Chapter

7. We strongly recommend building some content first before moving on to the Layout

window, so that you have some substance to design around.

───────────────────────────────────────

Start Building Your Content

Now that we have set up the preferences, website properties, added some album and

group pages, and organized the site files, we can begin building the content of the site.

Note: text is edited in the content window, while font styles and colors are edited in

the layout window. Make sure you have the Content window open before starting the

next sections.
