Upgrading to ImageWell Version 4

Registered Version 3 users of ImageWell can upgrade to Version 4 for free. The information
on this page outlines the major changes to Version 4, the system requirements and download link, and
information for those who would prefer to have the convenience of ImageWell from the Mac App Store.
ImageWell Version 4 has been completely reworked from version three. There are many changes and
improvements made to Version 4 that includes brand new code that has been optimized for OS X
10.6.5 (Snow Leopard). ImageWell V4 leverages these new technologies:
• Core Image for image filtering
• Core Text for advanced text rendering effects
• Core Animation for some of the user interface elements
• Spotlight to search and find your ImageWell project files
• Quick Look to view ImageWell project files from the Finder
• Quartz for rendering images
• Curl for exporting and sending images to external servers
• Lua scripting for extending and customizing ImageWell
Changes to ImageWell V4's Feature Set:
ImageWell 4 has most of the features from ImageWell V3, but is currently missing the
following features:
• Batch Processing
• Watermarking
• Templates
• Favorites
These features will be added back in to a future release. If you require these features, you can
continue using ImageWell 3. V3 and V4 can both run on your system at the same time
without any conflict between the two versions. Installing V4 will not overwrite V3, it will
install separately; there is no need to remove your V3 if you want to continue using it. Your
V3 serial number activates both V3 and V4. Please note: the file formats between V3 and V4 are
completely different; therefore you cannot open your ImageWell V3 .iw3 files with ImageWell V4.

• Many User Interface changes
• System Requirements: V4 requires OS X 10.6.5 or later, whereas V3 supports 10.4-10.7 or later
Batch Processing:
Batch processing will be released as a separate product and is no longer a feature in ImageWell 4. This
product will be a free update for ImageWell 3 users as well. We will notify you via email when we have
more news about this product. In the meantime, if you need to batch process your images, you can
continue to use the built-in batch processor in ImageWell V3.
Upgrade Policy to ImageWell 4:
As mentioned above, users who have purchased ImageWell 3, can upgrade for free to ImageWell 4.
Additionally, users who have purchased ImageWell 3, will also get the separate batch processing product
(mentioned above) for free.
System Requirements and Download:
System Requirements:
ImageWell 4 requires OS X 10.6.5, 10.7 or later (Snow Leopard and Lion Compatible). Users of previous
versions of OS X (10.3.9, 10.4, 10.5) can use ImageWell 3.7.6. ImageWell 4 takes advantage of the
latest enhancements in OS X 10.6.5.

After installing ImageWell 4, double-click ImageWell4.app in your Applications folder to launch
ImageWell. If you have ImageWell 3 installed on your Mac, ImageWell 4 will automatically find the
serial number for ImageWell and activate the product automatically. If you don't have ImageWell 3
installed, you will need to have your V3 serial number handy to enter it into V4's activation screen.
NOTE: We have sent an email out to all registered V3 users containing your V3 serial number. If you did
not receive our email, please contact support@xtralean.com to retrieve it.
ImageWell V4 Also Available from the Mac App Store
ImageWell V4 is now available at the Mac App Store for purchase of $4.99. The Mac App Store (MAS) is
separate from our store where you originally purchased ImageWell. ImageWell will not show up as
Installed when viewing it in the MAS and the Mac App Store will not notify you of updates to ImageWell.
Users wanting the convenience of the Mac App Store easy installation process and handling ImageWell
updates with their other software that they purchased from the MAS, will need to purchase ImageWell
4 at the MAS. Buy now from the Mac App Store.
