Note: Starting with version 3.5, ImageWell is no longer available as a free product with the option to upgrade to the Xtras. Version 3.5 and above of ImageWell is a paid product.
This feature was formally part of the 'Xtras'. Now this is a standard features of ImageWell 3.5 or better. If you purchased the Xtras, version 3.5 is a free update!
Templates allow you to store watermarks or any other attribute that you can apply to an image such as a drop shadow or border. You can apply these templates to other images saving time, instead of redoing work you did previously. Also you can apply a template to a bunch of images in batch - for example, applying a watermark to a folder of images.
To create or add a template, first drag an image into the well. Now add the watermark, drop shadow, border etc. to the image. Select File->Add Template from the main menu. The Template window will slide out.
This Template window is also available, by selecting ImageWell->Preferences and then clicking on the Templates tab.
There are several options available in the template window. You can double click on the name of the template to give it a more meaningful name - such as 'Copyright Watermark', or something suitable.
As well, you can choose to add additional scaling or resizing to the image when a template is applied. The pop up list allows you to choose from scaling the image from 1-100% of the normal size, set the width or the height to a specific dimension or to size the image to a specific size - cropping whatever doesn't fit in that dimension.
Once you have made your template, applying it to another image is an easy two step process:
1) Import the image - drag and drop it into the well.
2) Select File->Templates and then select the template from the menu.
To delete a template from the template library select Preferences and then click on the Templates tab. Select the template you want to delete and then press the '-' minus button to remove it from the template list.
Now that you have tried out the Templates feature, it's time to try out the Batch mode feature. Click here.
