ImageWell is very handy at taking screen shots and labeling them (more on labeling in the next section). ImageWell automatically imports the screen shot into the well for instant editing and sending. Various grab options are available including Screen Grab, Screen Selection, and Timed Screen Grab. You can even screen grab from a secondary monitor that is connected to your computer.
Pressing the screen grab button causes ImageWell to momentarily disappear from the screen, grab the screen, and then re-appear with the screen shot already in the well. Click the screen grab button and give it a quick try.
Click the grab selection button to grab a specific area on your screen. The ImageWell window will disappear and a cross hair will appear allowing you to select an area on the screen. Click and drag your mouse to select the area you want to grab. ImageWell will then re-appear with your screen shot already in the well.
The grab selection mode also lets you grab a screen shot of an application window. After clicking the grab selection button, press the space bar - the cross hair changes to a camera. Move the camera over a window and click your mouse. ImageWell will take a screen shot of that window. Pressing the space bar again, returns the camera back to the cross hair selection mode.
This feature is only available through the Services menu. Selecting Timed Screen will activate the built in OS X grab utility with a timer (ImageWell will not go invisible). The screen image will be automatically imported into ImageWell. Timed grab will only perform a full screen capture; it does not allow for screen selection.
The grab features can be accessed from 3 different areas:
Under the More Tab: Handy Grab Screen and Grab Selection buttons are readily available
under the More tab.
Main Menu: Grab Screen and Grab Selection can also be activated from the Main Menu under Tools.
Services Menu: The Timed Screen option is available from ImageWell-->Services-->Grab
(this activates the built in OS X grab utility).
Now that we have a screen shot, it's time to add some labels. Click here to learn
about the Edit Window.
