Non-Destructible Crop
The crop feature is "non-destructible". This means you can go back to the original image at any
time and re-crop it, adjust the crop area rectangle, or remove the cropped area completely
without permanently affecting the original image.
The crop feature does not crop draw objects. The only item that is affected when you crop is the
image itself, allowing you the flexibility to change the crop area whenever you want without
destroying any new edits or draw objects that you have added.
Why did we do this? Because it saves you time by eliminating unnecessary steps: in the event
you have cropped an image incorrectly or decide you don't want it cropped at all, non-
destructible crop saves you the step of importing the original back in and editing it all over
again. Or if you just want to crop the image for a one time event and save all of the other edits,
you can crop the image, export it, and then remove the crop and save the original image.
For example, let's say you resize your image, crop it, frame it with a shape and a border, then
add a label and a thought balloon. Then you decide you cropped the image too small or are not
happy with the area you cropped. Under the "Undo" or "Step Backwards" scenario, in order to
get back to the crop area that you wish to change, you would have to go back several steps and
undo everything you added; or revert back to the original which would automatically remove
any edits you've made to the image.
With non-destructible crop, all you have to do is go back to the edit panel and click the crop
button - your original image will appear again while retaining all other changes/editing that you
added to it. This eliminates the need to repeat steps.
To Crop an Image:
1. Click the Edit button to reveal the edit panel.
2. Click the Crop button. Click on the canvas and drag the mouse over the area you wish to
crop. A crop area rectangle will appear.
3. The crop area rectangle has 8 grab handles in total. Click and drag the grab handles to
resize the rectangle or click anywhere inside of the rectangle to move it.
4. Click the Select tool or the Done button to crop the image. Hit delete to cancel the crop
function.
5. Click Done.
Non-Destructible - To change or remove the cropped area after it has already been cropped:
1. Click the Edit button to reveal the edit panel.
2. Click the Crop button. The entire original image will appear along with the crop area
rectangle that you used (the section that was cropped off will appear greyed out).
3. Click and drag the grab handles to adjust the cropped area, or hit delete to remove the crop
completely.
4. Click Done.
Note: You cannot crop out draw objects. You must delete the draw objects in order to remove
them. The crop feature will only crop the image itself, not affecting the placement or size of
draw objects. If you have added a shape to the image prior to cropping it, the crop feature will
account for the shape and crop the shape that frames the picture as well.
